From Phuket or Krabi - catch a ferry or private speed boat.  This journey will take between 90 minutes and 2 hours, depending on which boat you take.

Many hotels will arrange private transfers for you if you staying with them.

If you'd prefer to arrive by air, Destination Air Shuttle has just launched Thailand's only seaplane shuttle service, from Phuket International Airport to Phi Phi.  The usual 90 minute boat trip now takes only 13 minutes by plane and lands directly in front of most hotels.

Holiday Inn Phi Phi 20 Feb 05 Beaches & Bays – the clear, emerald water and white sandy beaches made famous in the movie, The Beach, have retained most of their original beauty, despite the droves of tourists who now flock to the island. Bungalows, hostels and beach bars and restaurants line the beach, ensuring a great social life for those choosing to stay on the island. For a more serene stay, choose a hotel on the north-eastern side of the island. These can only be reached by boat.

Diving and Snorkelling - take the opportunity to really see this part of Thailand at its best and view it underwater. Snorkelling just off the island is fantastic. Hordes of colourful fish, sea anemone and sea urchins surround you as you swim along. If diving, Phi Phi and its neighbouring islands ensure exciting experiences. There are a number of dive shops located on the island. January to April are the best months for diving in this region. (For a short list and website links for diving, see Diving, listed under “Activities”).

Walk to the Lookout Point – if you have the energy, slowly walk up to the lookout point at the top of Phi Phi Island. It is a long, steep climb, but it is worth it up the top. Most pictures that you see of Phi Phi are taken from this viewpoint.

Island-hopping – hire a long-tail boat and driver for the day (Baht 800 – 1200 / A$28-$42) and zip around Phi Phi and the nearby the islands. Don’t forget to take plenty of water and maybe even a picnic!
